WAITROSE’S NEW BRANCHES IN Teignmouth, Devon and Edenbridge, Kent, have been attracting the attention of locals since opening on 13 March [2014].

The shops are the first of nine Waitrose conversions of former Co-operative Group stores, which will open this year.

The team of 130 Partners at Waitrose Teignmouth – made up of 50 former Co-operative employees and 80 new recruits – welcomed more than 11,000 customers in its first three days.

“The store has a real buzz about it. Feedback has been fantastic: mainly around the shop’s ambience, new service counters and the stunning wine department,” says Chris Reynard, Branch Manager. “We are very much the talk of the town.”

“We are delighted with the great start our new branches have had in Teignmouth and Edenbridge,” says Nigel Keen, Director of Development, Waitrose. “These are the first of a number of acquisitions, which will bring the Waitrose brand to new areas of the country and will see thousands of people becoming Partners.”
