Waitrose Wells opened on 25/07/2013. The following article appeared in the Partnership’s in-house magazine The Gazette at the time.

“New Waitrose Wells causes quite a stir

Shoppers in Wells, Somerset, were so delighted to see Waitrose finally open its doors in their city that they threw parties over the weekend to mark the branch’s arrival.

”Two groups of customers organised their own ’Welcome to Waitrose’ house parties, inviting our Branch Manager Chris Prest along as guest of honour,” reports Tim Broadhurst, DM Retail. ”Chris managed to find time to pop in with some Pimm’s.”

The 15,000sq ft shop’s opening has been greeted with great excitement by Partners as well as the many customers who have already given very positive feedback.

”Of the team here, all but 10 are new to the Partnership and they’re really thrilled that we’re now open for business,” Tim continues. ”The shop itself is absolutely perfect, and we’ve had a lot of support from Waitrose Wellington Partners in the run-up to opening so we’ve got everything in place to make Wells a success.”

The first week’s sales have been strong, with trade getting off to ’a great start’, says Tim. ”The shop has been really busy so we’re looking to continue that trend,” he adds.
